Steven P Reed - Autobiography
Steven P. Reed of New Orleans is a graudate of LOYOLA UNIVERSITY with a Bachelor degree of arts in Theatre Arts & Fine Arts Management. A studied actor and singer cast in such noteable roles as Tony in WEST SIDE STORY and Nicolas in Pinter’s ONE FOR THE ROAD among others, he is also a pianist, songwriter and playwright; he has written and produced such multi-media works as THE KILLER NEWS (Abingdon Theatre, New York) and his adaption of Hitchcock/ Cronyn/ Hamilton’s ROPE (Lower Depths Theater, New Orleans) both of which he also directed.
Reed is the founder and President of GLOBOP, INC. (multi-media, multi-cultural live entertainment production company, est. 2002, www.globopinc.com) created to promote globo-cultural creativity as social counter-balance to certain “flattening” effects of world market economics.
He has a variety of work experience gained through broad travels including: organist of JOHNNY SHINES Blues Band on US Tour, singer/pianist FLYING FUNK Band in Hong Kong, supporting role in C3 FIGHTER Kung Fu Film shot in Shenzen, refrigerator delivery driver for HOT & COLD in London, sous chef of GOULOFF’S in Jackson Hole, canvasser for CalPIRG (Right to Know Act) in San Francisco and GREENPEACE in New York, and bartender at THE BOTTOM LINE CABARET THEATER also in New York.
Works in progress for Reed include: EARTHRISE co-operative awareness festival event in Nigeria and Republic of Togo, a “star-crossed” glob-operatic tragedy focusing on the impact of zealous militancy in North Africa tentatively entitled CARTHAGE, and a “real” television situation comedy about a struggling East Side comic and his “aspiring” friends called MY OWN TWO FEET.
UPDATE: Limited release of new Steven Company record SMOVE TCHEFUNCTE FUNC is now scheduled for early September 2005. A first solo project for Reed, album features a different permutation of musicians on every track playing all original globop compositions as exotic as they are unique.
